How long you can stay in India with eTourist Visa?

There are several options of this Indian Tourist Visa available to Visitors in terms of duration now. It is available in three (3) formats:

  • 30 Day: Valid for 30 days from date of entry to India and is valid for Double entry.
  • 1 Year: Valid for 365 days from date of issue of eTA and is a multiple entry Visa.
  • 5 Years: Valid for 5 year from date of issue of eTA and is a multiple entry Visa.

Note: There used to be a 60 Day Visa to India available prior to 2020, but it has since been decommissioned.

What are the Requirements for an India Tourist Visa?

Tourist Visa requires the below documents.

  • A scanned color copy of the first (biographical) page of their current passport.
  • A recent passport-style color photo.
  • Passport validity of 6 months at the time of entry in India.

Limitations of India Tourist Visa

The following constraints apply to Indian Tourist Visa:

  • 30 Day Tourist Visa is only a Double entry Visa.
  • 1 Year and 5 Year Tourist Visa is valid for only 90 days of continuous stay in India. Nationals of USA, UK, Canada and Japan are allowed 180 days of continuous stay in India.
  • This type of Indian Visa is non-convertible, non-cancellable and non-extendable.
  • Applicants may be asked to provide evidence of adequate funds to support themselves during their stay in India.
  • Applicants are not required to have proof of flight ticket or hotel bookings on the Indian Tourist Visa.
  • All applicants must have an Ordinary passport, other types of official, diplomatic passports are not accepted.
  • The Indian Tourist Visa is not valid for visiting protected, restricted and military cantonment areas.
  • If your passport is expiring in less than 6 months from the date of entry, then you will be asked to renew your passport. You should have 6 months of validity on your passport.
  • Whilst you do not need to visit Indian embassy or Indian High Commission for any stamping of Indian Tourist Visa, you do need 2 blank pages in your passport so that the Immigration officer can put a stamp for departure at the airport.
  • You cannot come by road to India, you are allowed entry by Air and Cruise on the India Tourist Visa.

Tourists can make payment for their India Tourist Visa using a valid Debit Card or Credit card.

The mandatory requirements for India Tourist Visa are:

  1. A passport that is valid for 6 months from the date of first arrival in India.
  2. A functional Email ID.
  3. Possession of Debit Card or Credit Card for online secure payment on this website.
